Media Innovation Lab

The impossible, made human

Not a vendor that quotes productions. A studio that explores, experiments and builds the media formats artificial intelligence makes possible, and that nobody offers yet. Every week the question is the same: what can television, radio and digital do today that was impossible yesterday? The answer goes on air.

The Lab's north

AI does not replace talent. It amplifies it.

We do not substitute presenters, journalists or producers. We give them superpowers.

Five working axes

Commercial

Production of commercials, institutional and commercial content.

Artistic

Production of shorts, stories, feature films, documentaries and more.

Editorial

Coverage and news processing: transcription, context and video explainers on the fly, automatic multi-platform versioning, verification support (MediaMax + Personais). Investigative journalism: data journalism, document and archive mining, relationship maps and timelines, the area that brings prestige and exclusives (Personais + MediaBank). Live media: instant AI clips, real-time graphics and data (MediaMax, clip intelligence).

Learning and technique

Learning programmes, experimentation and capacity building for the group's teams.

Production and formats

Media generation: reels, capsules, dramatised lives, promos and branded content at half the cost, the shared-revenue engine (MediaMax + MaiMusic). Radio: visual radio, podcastification, clip extraction, AI co-hosts, audience analytics. TV and broadcast: reinvented formats, AI co-anchors, graphics, the innovation programme. Post-production: accelerated editing, archive restoration and remastering, dubbing and subtitling, versioning. Music and audio: scores, jingles and sonic identity for stations and shows (MaiMusic). Interactive and digital media: second screen, personalisation by audience, social-first formats, audience data.

Rundown · what the Lab invents

Eight formats, in continuous development and deployment.

  1. 01Instant AI clips — The moment a programme ends, AI extracts, subtitles and cuts the best moments into clips ready for each platform. Published in minutes, not the next day.
  2. 02Newscasts reinvented — New formats for the news: visualisations and explainers generated on the fly, context and infographics in video, data turned into image in real time.
  3. 03Opinion shows with a new grammar — Resources that enrich the debate: visual counterpoints, instant memory, live verification and context.
  4. 04AI co-presenters who join the human team — An AI co-anchor beside the hosts. It does not take their seat; it widens what they can do on camera.
  5. 05Tools that empower the presenter — From the intelligent teleprompter to instant research, translation, tone adaptation and assisted editorial prep.
  6. 06New creative video formats — Capsules, series, dramatised lives of public figures, the living memory of the archive, commemorative pieces, in a language of their own at half the cost and a third of the time.
  7. 07Management and production tools — Systems that streamline production flows and the handling of sources and generated media.
  8. 08Native personalisation and multi-platform — One story, versioned automatically for TV, radio, press and every social network, in the voice of each outlet in the group.

Every experiment that works becomes a new product, for the group and for the market.

An independent innovation entity changes the economics and the risk of innovating.

The Lab is constituted as an independent innovation entity, a non-profit R&D institute. That is not a technicality. It changes what innovating costs a media group, and what it risks.

From expense to deductible contribution

Instead of paying for a product or a service, partners contribute to the Lab's R&D and access what it develops. The contribution is structured as a deductible one: research and development carried out by an innovation entity. Same investment, favourable tax treatment.

Third-party funding

An innovation lab can receive grants and corporate sponsorship, funds from international bodies and government agencies, to develop technologies and solutions.

Risk isolated

Innovation that fails, fails in the Lab, not in a commercial venture. Partners' commercial operations stay protected.

Controlled environment, no disruption

The disruptive is developed and tested apart from daily operations, yet close enough to replicate their conditions and transfer fast what works. Innovation without risking the six o'clock news.

Self-sustaining, not a charity

The Lab does not run at a loss and does not live on donations: it earns and reinvests its whole surplus in growing. It simply pays no dividends. Every peso of profit goes back into innovation.

What already runs

A working collection of models, platforms and intellectual property, proven and running under CEMI.ai.

How to take part

Three doors into the Lab — as a partner, a sponsor or a media group bringing a format. The Lab describes each one, its programmes and the founding executive summary on its own site.
