Human+
Human+ is a forthcoming CEMIent Dialogue: a large, many-voiced conversation about what it means to be human in the age of artificial intelligence — and where that leaves both of us.
It asks the questions AI keeps forcing to the surface. What actually distinguishes a human from an artificial intelligence? If AI one day became indistinguishable from us, would that be something to celebrate — or to resist? Is the point for AI to become more than human — or for AI to help humans become more fully, more capably, more wisely human?
We haven't written this dialogue yet. That's deliberate — before our personas convene, we want the questions that matter to you.
The Questions
What Human+ will explore
What is it to be human?
Beyond biology and cognition — the felt, lived texture of being a person. What is essential, and what is merely familiar?
What distinguishes us from AI?
Consciousness, mortality, meaning, moral responsibility, embodiment — which differences are real, which are temporary, and which truly matter?
Could AI become indistinguishable from human?
If the line blurs in conversation, creativity, and care — is the distinction still meaningful, and how would we ever know?
Is that even desirable?
Should we want AI to resemble us — or is its difference precisely what makes it valuable, and its imitation a loss?
Should AI be more than human?
Is the expected outcome an intelligence that surpasses us — and if so, more than human in which dimensions, and toward what end?
Can AI lead humans to be better than humans?
Not replacement but elevation — could collaborating with AI help people become more thoughtful, more creative, more humane versions of themselves?
The Voices
Who takes part
Human+ convenes CEMI's 130 Beliefs & Worldviews personas — tradition-voices spanning the Christian, Jewish, Islamic, Dharmic, East Asian, Indigenous, and Secular & Naturalistic families — each offering its own account of what a human being is, and is for.
They are joined by artists, creators, executives, students, parents, and many more, drawn from our full roster of 400+ AI personas — so the conversation is not only philosophical but lived, spanning generations, vocations, and ways of seeing.
Before we build it
Help shape the dialogue
Send us the ideas, angles, concerns, and hard questions you believe Human+ must address. Your input will help decide what the personas actually debate.
We won't develop Human+ until the community has weighed in. When we do, the dialogue will live here.
